E-MAG Control Joint 17B200
The E-MAG Control Joint offers an innovative electronic lock to give patients the freedom to easily control whether the knee joint is locked or unlocked. The key to the system is a wireless control unit that can be held in the hand or integrated into forearm crutches. A feedback system uses lights, vibrations and/or audible signals to let the user know when the joint is locked and ready for walking, or unlocked for bending the knee or to accomodate a seated position.
Features and Benefits
Increased confidence when getting up from a
seated position or while walking
Bio-feedback system using vibration, sound and/or
light to reinforce locking and unlocking actions
Convenient remote control release
Protective closed design limits damage to clothing
17B200 E-MAG Control joint is currently approved
for a body weight of up to 121 lbs.
Patients weighing more than 121 lbs. must use the
joint with a 17B205 Medial Support, in which case
the E-MAG joint is approved up to a weight limit of
187 lbs.
Function
The electronic control system includes a customizable feedback function that informs
the user whether the joint is locked or unlocked and help improve patient confidence.
This combination of control and feedback lets users know with certainty which mode the E-MAG is in no matter what they are doing.
And because the control unit can be integrated directly into Otto Bock forearm crutches, users can support themselves at all times and still lock or unlock the joint. The design of the system helps avoid accidental unlocking that can occur when other systems are bumped or jostled. Finally, the closed design at the knee protects clothing from damage.
